I don’t know if this is the right place to post this post but I hope this is the right place
I want to change the site permalinks,

    for example: example.com/category/post-name to example.com/post-name

but I only want this for new post’s which doesn’t affect on already posted posts in my site

or is there any way to add new post without assigning category, because my permalinks setting is example.com/category/post-name.

I hope you can understand what I am trying to say. thanks for the help in advance.

    Dear Paultyner,

I hope you are doing great!

Please find a possible solution to your problem for having a permalink and changes to the permalink.

You can go to wp-admin/options-permalink.php from your WordPress admin login

In this option, you can also have a custom permalink.

Do share if it worked for you.

    Thanks

If you make changes to the permalink settings, it applies to *all* posts, both past and future.

thank you all of you for your replies, but what about redirection if I redirect post URL with new to old ones URL then does then work?

Means I set my permalinks setting to example.com/post-name and when this change happen I redirect my post’s which I want to remain them on old URL’s?

like this (NEW URL example.com/post-name only redirect old post not new to example.com/category/post-name).

Use the Redirection plugin to automatically redirect the old posts’ URLs to the new format.

    Good luck!
