• hi everybody. i’ve been experimenting with wordpress with a small website of mine (www.avantglance.com) and last week decided it was time to also convert my bigger site to wordpress.

it’s all running perfectly but the permalinks. in my first site they work flawlessly and i configured everything the same way in my second one but clicking in the title of an entry in the index just makes the index reload (and i don’t want custom permalinks, just the ?p=number thing).

check it out for yourselves: https://www.clubsonyericsson.com/en/index.php

i’d really appreaciate any help on this (i’ve already read several related topics without luck).

    thanks in advance.

  • have you updated the permalink structure? and then copied and pasted the text that WP gives you after you update it into a text file called .htaccess? and have you then re-ftp’ed the .htaccess file to the root of your site?

yes, i played in the permalinks section of the admin panel and reset it all to the default (no customs) and it created the .htaccess file with the generated code in the blog’s folder. it didn’t work. i copied that code into the .htaccess file located in the root of my site and still doesn’t work.

it seems many people is having problems with permalinks. it may not be a bug but are there plans to improve it?

    thanks again.

Now when I have my permalinks set to the default, I have no problems, but I have the *exact* same issue whenever I try to change the permalink structure. I also have updated the .htaccess file to no avail.

If it helps, I’ve noticed the .htaccess file I FTP from the root folder of my blog on the server does not match the one under Manage>Files. I’m sure that must have something to do with it but I’m at a loss on how to fix it.
