• Hi guys,
I currently use the ‘Default’ option. I set it up that way when I installed the blog (https://www.joysandsorrows.co.uk) in November 2005. Since then I’ve learnt that the more SEO friendly structure is the ‘Numeric’ way. So I’d like to change. A few questions.

    – How do I go about it? I assume I don’t simply change the option in the admin panel and it does everything for me?

    – What happens to all the links around the web that link to individual posts in my blog when the permalinks have been updated? Do those links suddenly link to nothing? Not to mention my links in Google?

    – Does it affect my PR / Feeds in any way?

    I’m currently running 2.0.5.

Any help on this matter greatly appreciated.

  • 1. Actually, you just simply change the Permalink settings (and follow the instructions about the .htaccess file)
Good reading that should be done BEFORE:

    2. You are lucky ??
The default setting [/?p=123] will always work, regardless of your new fancy “nice” permalinks. Warning: this is not true the other way around!
