Permalinks question

I am new to WordPress, and we are redoing our website at aarfatlanta.org. I have a question about Permalinks. Even if I try to edit the URL, many are defaulting to have a “-2” in the URL. For example:

https://aarfatlanta.org/adoptable-pets-2/

How do I get rid of the -2 part?
