• We’ve recently installed and got our blog – https://www.putsj.no – up and running, but there’s still some newbie problems occuring.

    * If not trying to use permalinks every post and category link redirects back to the index.php file/main page, and not the acctual post or category?!

    * When trying to use permalinks there’s a ‘404 Not Found’ foul, and I’m sure this is related to the .htaccess, but I have no clue on how to find/edit the .htaccess file – and I cant find it in my wordpress root directory – even though I’ve ticked ‘show hidden files’ in my ftp software.

Anyone got a clue on how to resolve this issue?
    We’re grateful for any help.

    Thanks!

  • In your wordpress directory create a .htaccess file then go back to your permalinks and click update permalinks. Oh and make sure the file is 775 when updating the change back to 644 after updating.

I guess i should’ve mentioned, but I dont know how to create an .htaccess file neither, nor what the content of it should be.

    Any tips or tricks?

    Thank you

Just create a blank text file and name it .htaccess with no file extension, then ftp it to the wordpress directory of your web server then change the permissions of the file to 775 then update your permalinks then change it back to 644.
