• I want to be able to upload a daily pic that will change daily on my site…will change when I add the new photo the next day.

Do I need to create a post or a page or can I somehow just use the permalink for the new photo?

Is there some code to use in my nav bar that will automatically pull the new picture I uploaded into the button that controls the daily pic? Or would I have to manually enter the new pic in the code daily?

    Thanks

more simply, how can I put something into the navigation code that will generate, automatically, a newly updated pic for that particular button?

I would use a script, plugin, whatever, that looks for an image file that is aptly named with a variation of the date. If you keep the naming convention for the images you upload.. ie,

    09032008.jpg
    09022008.jpg
    09012008.jpg

then tommorow, the 3rd, the 09032008.jpg image would be displayed.

If theres not such a plugin it wouldnt be hard to write.

Unfortunately I don’t have a clue about writing this kind of stuff. I feel very inferior right now LOL.

You are the first person in 4 days to actually respond to me….and I’ve posted on several sites. So I thank you very much. Unfortunately all the help I’ve received has been from my teenage daughter, and this is one thing she doesn’t know about.

Should I google plug ins or something? Thanks

well my answer was predicated on my thinking that you would just be displaying the image somewhere on your site, and not necessarily within a single page or post (though thats doable as well).

You could go through the plugins directory looking at image things sure.

Is this something that you would be displaying within a page or post? Or would it be displayed in your sidebar, or like some other relatively non-changing content kind of place?

    Well, here’s my site: https://www.maviefolle.com

The item in question is the Daily Dog nav button.
Right now the only photo in there is linked to a post I made, because I didn’t know how to do what you said above with the
    09032008.jpg
    09022008.jpg
    09012008.jpg
idea. But I can’t keep changing the code, and I don’t want to have to make a post every time for a new pic.
You are really nice, thank you.

ok, well I know what I would do, but its not in keeping with the normal wordpress solution. If you like, tonight at work, Ill come up with a solution for you.

send me your email.. (you can send to: village-idiot.org @ whoo)

switch those around so the whoo bit is in front. I work long shifts, and I have some other stuff to attend to but this is fairly straight-forward.

OMG, you are the best! Thank you so much, I’ll email you in a minute…but in the meantime, just let me say thanks again, without you I would not be able to sleep again tonight. LOL (seriously). Big hugs!
