A month ago i upgraded to 3.1 and lost my month/post permalinks. I get only 404 messages when clicking on a specific article. I posted this issue elsewhere and someone suggested that it was my apache mod rewrite file on the server.. I called my host and they said nothing had been changed. I upgraded today to 3.1.1 hoping that it would be fixed with the upgrade but it still only works with the default setting.. I’ve lost over 1,000 percent of my traffic in the last month which was a shock.. and i’d surely like to resolve this issue but I need help. thanks in advance!

    Luke,

I am not one to plunder around in my functions php file. I look at your examples on your site and while I can copy and paste with the best of them i truly have no idea where exactly to insert this code. am i deleting other code? do i just open functions php and stick it at the top? doesn’t seem so. You have so much…(forgive me) advertising in the code.. that.. i can hardly figure out where the real meat comes from.

How do i revert back to before it was broken???

    beclecto:

    1. open your theme’s functions.php file
    2. insert both functions (wcs_hotfix_31_redirect_canonical and wcs_hotfix_31_get_page) … typically near the bottom … before the: ?>
    3. the hotfix will be enabled the next page that you view

There’s no other code to delete. And, you can disable it at any time by deleting the two functions OR by commenting the add_action and remove_filter lines.

Those “comments” in the code are there to explain for programmers what the various segments are accomplishing.

You can email me if you need more details. Also, I was just approved to upload this as a plugin in the WP depository. I’ll do so in the next few days.

OMG….. its working.. i tried disabling all plugins one more time… and it worked.. it was the top level category plugin that was ruining everything… omg!!! I”M SO HAPPPPPPY!

hi beclecto, i have the same your problem. When i upgraded to 3.1.2 and permalink not work, just used default permalink. I just used contact form 7 plugin if i disable plugins like you so everyone can not contact to me, i do not know how to do fix it.
I need help to resolve this issue. Thanks

@lamnghiem43: Disabling plugins is just to see if it works without it. If you find a plugin that breaks anything, then contact the plugin author ur use his/her support forum, and ask for it to be fixed.

@Sparhell. I mean, if i disable all plugins on my website like the way @becleto made it to permalink can work, so i can not use Contact Form 7 plugin and my website don’t have Contact Form, i have not try this yet.
I have problem about permalink(%category%/%postname%/), it not work when i upgrade to 3.1.2.
    Hi, thanks Sparhell.
