    Hi all.

I’ve got a Page that I’m trying to set up to list blog posts.

However, when I edit the permalink, my edit never sticks. WordPress seems to give the page a permalink name of it’s own choice, no matter what I do.

Is this a known bug ?

I want my page to be called either ‘blog’ or ‘news’, and use my word of choice as part of the permalink.

If I edit the permalink to that state “https://wp/blog”, wordpress changes it to “https://wp/blog-2”. The same happens if I try to change the permalink to “https://wp/news”. WordPress throws in a hyphen and a digit.

Is there a way to fix this?

You probably already have a post or page with a “blog” and “news” slug. When you create the second, it has to add the -2 to differentiate between the old and the new page.

Posts/Pages in the trash are also still considered as valid, so if you have old pages in the trash that use the same name, either change the slug/name of the trashed one, or delete it from the trash (just an FYI).

    Thanks.

Deleting pages from the trash did the trick.
