• When a page or post is deleted, by default, until the trash is emptied, the permalink remains and is not usable for anything else.

This is particularly problematic for WordPress installations that allow users to register for an account and post to the website–but don’t have access to the admin area–to create a post with the same permalink until the admin empties the trash.

It would be great to have a way to get rid of the permalink for posts that members of a WordPress site when they delete it, freeing up the permalink without an admin having to empty the trash.

    Hi @jason_hayes,

Good Day! I would like to share this with you.

    Understanding the WordPress Trash Functionality

The WordPress trash functionality serves as a safeguard for deleted content on your website. When you delete a post, page, or comment, it is not immediately permanently removed from your site. Instead, it is moved to the trash folder, where it remains for 30 days by default.

During this period, you have the opportunity to retrieve the deleted items in case of accidental deletions. However, once the 30-day period elapses, the items in the trash folder are automatically and permanently deleted from your site.

That’s why WordPress has a trash folder for future purposes. You only have the option to manually delete the post or page on trash folder if you don’t need that anymore.?

    Hope this information helps.

    Thank you.

@jason_hayes When permalinks get indexed, you can never generate the same permalink again unless some conditions are met. This link is unique, and Google cannot duplicate it. So check that permalink on Google to see if it is indexed or not. This is how you check. On Google write

    site:xyz.com (Your site link)

If your link is indexed, it will show up on Google. If it is not indexed, then you are good to go after 30 days on WordPress.

If the link is indexed, you can always submit a removal request in your GSC. But it deletes the link temporarily. On that URL, you will get a 404 error.

Please also remember that Google typically re-crawls URLs over time and may remove them from the index if they consistently return 404 errors, but there isn’t a fixed time frame for this process.

So keep checking after sometime site:https://poslinksolution.com/dejavoo-z11/
