permalinks issue

Hello I am having an issue with latest wordpress install.

permalinks are working on default settings only.

I triple checked my webserver, htaccess and switched to hiawatha and nginx to check.

Anybody else having same problem?
do we have to report to developers and wait for wordpress to fix this?

please reply everybody.
