permalinks in WordPress 2.0 – possible?

  • Everyone seems to be having the same problems I’m having. Here’s the steps I have gone through to try and make permalinks work in WordPress 2.0.

    1. I’ve checked to make sure I have mod rewrite access, and I do.
    2. I went to Options-Permalinks.
    3. I selected the Numeric option.
    4. After submitting, I receive the message “Permalink Structure Updated”.
    5. I then try to access my site and it gives me the error “Error 404 – Not Found”. When I’m trying to view a page, I try to view https://www.mysite.com/wp/?page_id=4 or whatever number page it is.
    6. I go to my server to check for a .htaccess file and check permissions. As far as I know, everything checks out.

    What is causing this error?
