For SEO optimisation it is best to have product URLs configured to contain text that is relevant to the products. However, when i set the permalink options in wordpress to the correct settings, the resulting URLs in the woo commerce shop are incorrectly formed.
I am not sure if this is a problem that relates to kite.ly or not. I suspect not, but I thought I would check here first because the problem is so obvious that I guess it would be fixed quickly in woo commerce and yet I see it here.

If I set the ‘Common Settings’ option for permalinks in wordpress to the ‘Post name’ option, then i can also choose a setting specifically for products further down the permalinks options page. However, no matter what I choose, the actual links in the shop are malformed. E.g. instead of seeing something like:
    https://www.myshop.com/products/flip-flops-3/

    i see: https://www.myshop.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=aeidn_redirect&link=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ureka.org%2Fshop%2Fproduct%2Fflip-flops-3%2F&id=1926

And when i visit that link I am taken to my main website since the link doesn’t work.

Any idea what the problem might be here?
    thanks

    Hi!

This is the first time that I see this problem. Just the fact that your link takes you to .../wp-admin/... means that it wouldn’t work for ordinary visitors. Further, admin-ajax.php is supposed to handle AJAX requests, not deliver pages.

Our plugin doesn’t deal with links; it merely creates standard WooCommerce products, with some metadata saved on the side. To make sure that this goes beyond our plugin, please add an ordinary WooCommerce product (admin dashboard, Products, Add new) and see if it gets the same kind of link.

If that link is also broken, check your Permalink settings and .htaccess file. See also if anyone else with the same theme has that problem.

If that link is fine, please add another Kite product and tell me: a) did it happen again? and b) were there any errors reported in the error logs?

I hope this will help you resolve the problem quickly.

I have no idea why the URLs point to that wp-admin address, but it is the URL that is present for products in their ‘show more’ button in both the standard wordpress shop themes that i have just tested. I did though, find that other product URLs are not formed in that way. The other URL format is the correct one, e.g.:
    https://www.myshop.org/shop/product/beach-towel-3/

(n.b. I have wordpress installed in a subfolder of my main website presently, but will move it to it’s own domain soon.. which is why there is a ‘shop’ folder at the start of the folder path for the URL).

In any case, this other URL also fails with the permalinks set to ‘Post Name’. I think I need to report this to the woo commerce team and see what they say.

So, if I get it right, the same problem appears with manually created non-Kite products? I’d like to mark this as “resolved” if we’re positive that it’s not the plugin issue.

    Thank you for your response,

    V.
