Permalinks edit and trying to recover 404 errors everywhere

    Hi all,
    I edited one permalink and since then all links from the home page give a 404 page can not be found error. I would like to return to how it was before that.

    Also, the site is up with a separate box being the workpress server, does anyone know a good host.

    Finally I do not understand what the permalinks do.

    This is my first wordpress site.

    Hi All,
    Forgot to say. The original is dkret3 3.4 by Joern Kretzschmar.

    I have one primary sidebar and this also goes accros the top of the page. No other link, archives, etc. are added.
