Permalinks Changed .. Need Help on htaccess

    I just updated my permalinks to custom: /%category%/%postname%/ and am getting the “You should update your .htaccess now” message —— WP used to update my links fine… but I recently changed hosts/servers.

    Do I need to *install* mod_rewrite or do I assume if I use Apache, it’s already installed?

    I’m comfortable with manually writing to .htaccess, but if I can set it up so rewrites are automatic, how would I do that? After I go into cPanel, what are the steps? Sorry, I feel so stupid.

    Nevermind, sry.

    I checked my .htaccess settings and they were 644 instead of 666. My bad. Custom Permalinks are updating fine now =)
