Permalinks Category Not Showing Sub / Child Category

    I have stumbled upon a weird problem. The only plugin that I do have is the WP No Category Base which only removes the /category/ , even with this plugin switched off it does not work.

    For my permalink structure, I have set it to

    /%category%/%postname%/

    Let’s say I have

    Parent (Category)
    —Child1 (Sub Category)
    —Child2 (Sub Category)

    By default should it show while viewing a post ?
    /parent/child/postname/

    on my site it shows the category and NOT the child
    /parent/postname/
