Permalinks and MAMP/Localhost

    I’ve successfully migrated a production site to localhost using Duplicator, but the only way my page and post links work is if I set my permalinks settings to default, and not my custom link structure (/%category%/%postname%/). When I use a custom structure, all of my pages and posts 404. I haven’t tried migrating to another live host yet – so I’m not sure if the issue persists there, just curious.

    Is there something I’m missing here?

  • You will need to look at how the .htaccess file is setup, on most WordPress site the permalink structure just write the permalink setup to a rewrite directive for Apache. It may be that the .htaccess file is not getting written to correctly…
