• I’ve endeavoured to follow the rules on changing to permalinks. Existing posts then generate a 404 page not found. I’ve read on a couple of sites that you really should do your changing over to permalinks when you first set up the blog. I don’t have a lot of previous posts on the particular blog so I could do some manual adjusting if needed, but I really don’t want to risk messing things up.

    seem to have solved the problem – I think I was not changing the permissions on .htaccess properly.

    One lingering irritant is that a post that somehow I forgot to give a name to and which then got a number (30) now has the number locked in as post slug, even though I’ve now provided a name. Not a big deal but if there is a simple fix that would be appreciated.
