    Hi,
I use permalinks, which require .htaccess to be writable.

I use 666 permission, as recommended in documentation.

Simple question: is it safe to leave .htaccess with 666 permission?

    thanks. tara

  • yes! But so you can not edit it with your code!

It only needs to writable when you’re changing permalink settings (when wordpress needs to write to it)…

It doesn’t need to be writable for regular operation, 644 should be fine if you’re not changing the permalink settings ..
