permalinks and disappearing images

Hi all,

I’m running a site on localhost. I just downloaded and installed WP Super Cache and it required permalinks.
I edited Apache’s httpd to activate the permalinks.

Since then, all my images on the front page only have disappeared, external images from the web, and local images. The code is in the “edit box”, but it doesn’t appear at all once the page is displayed.
The images show up on the other pages though.

I have no idea what went wrong. I am clueless ??
