Permalinks all garbled?!

  • I’m a confused WordPress newbie in dire need of help.

    Since the upgrade to WordPress 2.5 my permalinks are all messed up. Before the update they read

    https://www.sitename/2008/04/02/post-name/

    but now no matter what permalink structure I choose it comes out garbled with % symbols. So the above would now read

    https://www.sitename/2008/04/02/%e2%80%apost-name/

    Interestingly the Ugly permalinks are not altered like this and display as they should. I haven’t changed any server settings.

    Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this and how to fix it?

    No one has any ideas?

    I’ve even tried changing the .htacess permissions but am getting nowhere.
