Can anybody help me on this issue? It’s very important to my site.

Some (although not all) of my permalinks won’t work. Some work perfectly and some are having variants of this “%20%E2%80%8E” added to the end of them, which obviously is giving me the 404 message.

I’ve tried deactivating plug ins and changing to default theme but had no difference and obviously as some work, it is unlikely to be that. I have also checked for hidden characters but cannot seem to find any and I cant see any spaces either.

Basically the best way to demonstrate is through here, https://www.tbdowenholland.com/our-products/ the actual pages workfrom the drop down, but only some links within this slider work. You’ll note that “Working At Height: images do not work and one of the Unpowered GSE images doesn’t (the stairs) despite being equipped with the same link and structure as the other Unpowered GSE images.

    Any ideas?

  • That looks like you have been pasting your post titles in from something else. Try manually re-typing the titles of the problem posts.

such an obvious solution, that I have literally sat scratching my head over all day. It did work-I feel such a twerp!

    Thank you Esmi.

No problem. We all have days when we need an extra pair of eyes. ??

I’ve changed lots of the links manually and it has worked a treat-but so far there is one that is still having the issue when i manually re-type it, I’m pretty sure that I have had no errors either time i have attempted it?

What is the title of the post?

    dollies and trailers

That looks OK. Can you post a link to that post? Or to a page that contains it?

It is fine on the drop down menu but if you click on the image in here (same link) it then adds the characters. Its happening to a few-it seems to not like permalinks with the word “and” in them?

That could be an artefact of whatever you are using to display those rotating images. Since the menu link is OK, then it’s not a WP core issue, so that means it’s a theme or plugin issue.

That was my first instinct too. Before I contacted you guys, i did contact the plug in authors who were saying that I had spaces in the links. I checked numerous times and could not find them. I asked where but they didn’t get back to me. I think tomorrow i will re-do the permalinks and take “and” out and re-link them to see if it makes a difference.

This one was really odd so I thought i’d share my solution in case anybody else has these problems. I didn’t actually change the permalinks. I decided to try again one more time before I did.

I don’t know whether it was stored within my cache with the added characters inside it and it had decided that that was what I was looking for, but the characters kept displaying after typing the URL’s in manually – and perfectly how they should be.

What I actually had to do was to type it in wrong first-i noticed this by accident when i left a letter out and it did not add the characters, for every subsequent link that continued to add the characters, I then typed it in wrong, i.e putting .cm instead of .com and then reloading the page and adding the ‘o’ into .com.

It’s crazy but it has done the job!
