When ever I put the word “hospitatliy” into the permalink URL, the page does not display properly. Even if I do something like this /capabilities/hospitality-2/ it still displays incorrectly, it doesn’t pull the template in the drop down.

    Link desired:
    /capabilities/hospitality/

I don’t have any other pages with this name, I permanently deleted one a while back, but it is not in the list of pages at all.

    any ideas??

  • Check that it is not in the trash still, if it is delete it.

Otherwise, take a look at your Settings -> Permalinks and make sure that ‘Post Name’ is selected.

Then I am guessing you are posting to the capabilities page with a category page titled ‘hospitality’. Is this correct?

It’s not in the trash, that’s what is so strange.

It would be a child page of Capabilities.

using a custom structure, that works well for all the others.
    /%category%/%postname%/

Each time you create a post you are checking the capabilities category right? And capabilities is a category you created right not a page?

Then you need to make sure you add the capabilities category to your menu so you can see it as a link on your website and all posts to that category will show up within that.

Capabilities is the landing page, it does have content.

i do have this setup with the menu, it seems there is something else going on not to accept the word “hospitality”, even if I remove it from under capabilities it still displays incorrectly.

So you are trying to create a page hospitality? And capabilities is a page?

Try adding the category you want to your menu underneath your page. It will display a ‘category page’ and create a dropdown link for you. Then when you add a new post you can check the box for that category. Make sure in Settings > Permalinks it is set to post name. It will do the rest for you. It should just show %/%postname%/ in the blank.

    I am not sure how:
    /%category%/%postname%/

Is working for pages. Let me look more into this because if it is working for the others than that is weird.

i changed the image title in the actual media gallery and it seems to be working! seems to be odd though

    Awesome, that is weird.
