Permalink Structure

i couldnt find much info by searching or maybe, im very bad with searches…

the problem im having is..

i have a domain with wordpress on the main page. now i have installed wordpress again in a sub directory..

eg example.com – main wordpress.

example.com/hello – the second wordpress.

now, by default the Permalink Structure on the second one is, post id, number.

when i go to change it to ‘custom’ or with date, it says, for me to change the .htaccess. or give permissions on it.

i have changed the permissions on the .htacess, still the second directory Permalink Structure doesnt change…

what should i do…
