• Hello,
I’m trying to change the way my permalinks appear for the pages on my website. Currently I have the Permalink setting to Post Name. The name of my website’s front page is “Home”. However, the permalink for the other pages (such as the ‘Our Approach’ page) which are children of the Home page displays as follows:
    https://www.treeconstruction.ca/home_page-2/our_approach/

I can’t figure out where the “home_page-2” part of the permalink is coming from.

Preferably, I’d like to delete that part of the permalink if possible, so it just reads https://www.treeconstruction.ca/our_approach/. If that’s not possible, I’d like to at least change it to just “home” or “home_page” (without the number 2.

    Can anyone help with this?

  • Hi,

Is it possible that you have a page parent set? If you go to edit the “Our Approach” page, look over on the right-hand side and see if a page is set as the parent page. If it is, change to (no parent).

    Cheers

Yes, there is a page parent, but I thought there needed to be a parent so that the home page is the top dog and the other pages fall underneath it…

Do you mean that the other pages fall underneath it in the menu? You should be able to create menus in Appearance>Menus in whatever order and hierarchy you like, so it doesn’t matter what the page parent is.
