Permalink Problems

    I have been trying for ages to get permalinks to work.

    If I set them to Post Name https://backinbalance.nz/sample-post/ they go to 404 page not found.

    If I set them to Numeric https://backinbalance.nz/archives/123 they seem to work as Post Name. https://backinbalance.nz/sample-page

    I have tried everything I can find deleting and reinstalling numerous times … deleting the contents of the .htaccess file … pasting new contents … inactivating all the plugins … using default theme … I can’t think of anything I have not tried that I have found in the forums … I am reluctant to leaving it as this fudge as I suspect once I have built the site something will stop working … I just can’t seem to get the thing to work.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi fellow Kiwi,
    It appears that the/sample-post/ link works for me so do you still have this problem?
    The /archives/123 link gives a 404 so does that page actually exist?
    The links for Services for instance work as well although I presume these are defaults provided by the theme.

    Hello Mouli,
    I have solved the problem by changing the host of the site. I don’t think it was the host’s problem but I wanted to move to StudioPress Sites anyway.
    I still don’t know what was going on but I will close the topic.

    That is good news indeed.
    It probably was an issue with the host since changing host fixed it and i know there are some Apache configurations that can cause this issue.
    Good that you are up and running again.
