permalink problem related to restoring of lost homepage
-
Hello,
I’m beginner and new member here. I am using Twenty Twelve template. I accidentally deleted the Home from my menu and have tried to restore it following some threads of other people in these forums. I have created a new menu, gone to the Links and changed URL to just / and typed Home for Link Text, and saved to Menu. Then I went to Settings > Reading to define my static front page, which is supposed to be my homepage. But I realised I need to first create a new page titled Home to select it as static front page.
However, when I typed Home as the title for the new page, the permalink given is https://websitename.com/home-2/
I tried to edit the permalink to just Home (without the “-2”) but wordpress would not allow me. I figure the /home permalink already exists BUT I had deleted my original homepage..Question
How do I either properly restore my deleted home that permalink /home points to?
OR
How now to create the new homepage that I can name the permalink as just /home?Looking forward to all your kind guidance.
Thank you.
