    Hi guys,

I have a problem with my permalinks. I’ll explain what happens:

Let’s say I create a post called ‘Test’, the permalink created for this post will be something like /blog/test . Going to the URL works and the post shows fine. Now let’s say that delete the post and create a new one called ‘Test’ again the permalink for this is also set to /blog/test . However, when you go to the URL for the second one, it does not work. It gives a 404 error. Has anyone else encountered this problem? It seems once you create a post with one permalink and delete it and then create a new one with the same title and permalink, the re-created permalinks never seem to work. Anyone know how this can be fixed? I would appreciate any help on this.

    Thanks in advance.

    restore your previous Deleted Page..
And copy all the content (from the Second Test) to the older one…

Thanks Nasir Zia. I tried that already and it works. However, I don’t like that solution. Is there a better one? I mean, this solution only works if you have not permanently deleted the posts. How do I solve this for posts that have been permanently deleted?

If you have Deleted it Permanently than you might not face this problem….
Try re setting your permalink structure to default. and then revert back to what currently you are having .!
    Thanks,

These posts seem to be related.

I tried to re-create your problem but I don’t get the 404 in WordPress 3.2.1 on Twenty Eleven 1.2 theme. Not sure if version or theme make a difference.

I changed the Theme to Twenty Eleven 1.2 and tried to re-create the problem but it seemed fine. I then changed it back to my custom theme and tried to re-create the problem on there as well but it seems to have been fixed. I think switching two the Twenty Eleven theme and trying to create a new post with the title of a deleted post fixed the problem. It’s weird though. Thanks guys for all your help

Unfortunately, the problem is back. I just tried to create a post with the same title of a deleted post and it gave me the 404 error. Anyone know how to solve this problem for good?
