When I changed my PERMALINK to Custom and updated my .htaccess according to the guidelines then I get this error

    “Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.”

I even changed the CHMOD to 777 for the index.php file which works.

If you go to my main site then it works:
    https://santorini-weddingphotographer.com/

As soon as I click anything on the menu I get the error above.

    Any idea what to do?

  • Do the links work if you use the default permalink setting? Have you contacted your hosts and asked if mod_rewrite is installed?

If I do use the normal permalink settings then it works fine.

check your server settings. Hope mod_rewrite option is disabled.

I contacted them and they said “Yes, mod rewrite is enabled and supported by our servers.. Im afraid it is not possible to disable this. This is a setting with our Apache and cannot be edited from our end or yours.”

I have another blog with the same host and then i changed the permalink and it worked fine.

    Any other idea??

try once again… to set the permalink as your choice

EDIT: Also check once your domain have .htaccess file? This file will be generating automatically by WP when you will set the permalink
