permalink – homepage slider- buddy press

Please help?
I wanted to add “groups” to site last night, chose buddy press with the email notifier plugin. Set it up and was prompted: BuddyPress is almost ready. You must update your permalink structure to something other than the default for it to work. I selected the first in list ( Day and name). then added one test group…ect

Now the slider which was previously only appearing and wanted on home page is appearing on every page.

This is the code that was added to the last section of header.php (which previously had everything working correctly,) with the home page selected for display.

Thus, i want groups functionality, slider only on home page. Any ideas.
When i went back to default for the setting in permalinks i lost groups. (expectedly so).
