• Hi

I am a bit new to WordPress and I started tweaking some things…
I tried to change permalinks of the site to /%postname%/ ignoring the WordPress explanations saying it would be difficult to access the wp-admin page… and of course, now I can’t access /wp-admin, and even not the site ! ( https://sport.cars.free.fr )

Can anyone help me fix that ?
How can I go back to another permalink structure to solve the problem ?

    Thanks

  • You may have to reset the permalinks in the database directly.
Can you access the database via phpmyAdmin?

I have downloaded the full “wp-admin” folder from my ftp, I have Dreamweaver to edit php files but I’m a bit new to that :/

Which file do I have to edit ? “options-permalink.php” ? But I don’t understand half of what is written :/

Man, have you read this before you started to mess around with permalinks? I had the same thing, but I noticed in time to change things back. Now I have /%id%/%postname% as suggested.
Perhaps you can delete the permalinks part from your htaccess and start over, I don’t know.

Yes I read it but thought there could be a probleme only if I write a post called “wp-admin” which could interfer with the real “wp-admin” link…

You mean I can try to edit the .htaccess file at the root of the ftp ?
I see nothing refering to permalinks, the file is very short

I went in the database with phpmyadmin and changed the value of “permalink structure” to /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    but still doesn’t work !! :/

    any idea ?
