    Hi there,

I recently changed my website’s permalink structure from “plain” to “post name,” and I’m encountering some issues that I hope you can help me address. In the Site Health section, I’ve observed an error related to the REST API, and it seems to be affecting specific functionalities on my site.

Here are the details of the issue:

    Error Description:

    • The REST API is not behaving correctly.
    • The REST API, crucial for communication between WordPress and other applications, is essential for functions such as displaying and saving posts and pages in the block editor. Specifically, the REST API is not processing the context query parameter correctly.

    Additional Information:

    • My server is running on Nginx.
    • This issue persists even when all plugins are deactivated, eliminating plugin conflicts as the cause.

    Observation:

    • Interestingly, when I move my site to Bluehost or Hostinger, the error seems to resolve itself. Unfortunately, I am unsure of my current web host.

I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.

    Thank you

I don’t think Bluehost or Hostinger use Nginx by default, that’s possibly why the difference. WP cannot configure Nginx to use pretty permalinks on its own like it can with Apache. You’ll need to manage the configuration yourself (or your host might be able to assist). The specifics partly depend on exactly how Nginx is implemented. Hopefully this Nginx article will help you find the right solution.
