Permalink Category: Just one word?

  • I realize this is an issue with differing opinions, but I have been using only /%postname%/ plus a category of a descriptive word, e.g. “wellness”
    It didn’t show the category in the URL, which I liked because I could change categories without effecting anything.

    Question: In the category base field, can I just put the one word “wellness” [without quotes] or does it need slashes, as in: /wellness/
    My site exploded and I can’t remember which I used. Also, how can I prevent /tag/ in the URL when searching via tags?
