I have a staging install, I am using a Roots Bedrock install. I have copied the database from my local dev to my staging server. Now, sporadically permalinks will break, if I turn them off and just use IDs it works but turning them on creates some loop I can’t find that makes it impossible to access certain pages. How could I go about figuring out what has gone wrong.

If the default setting works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again. If clearing your Permalinks does not alleviate the issue, this could be attributed to anything from a web server configuration to a bad WordPress install.

I have read the Using Permalink before, the reason I asking for guidance is I have deployed the same structure from from a bedrock installation with the same .htaccess config and now something has gone wrong none of the troubleshooting situations in the docs have occurred? what constitutes a bad WordPress install, when the local install works and everything about it except the permalinks work? what goes “bad”? How does one determine that?

Nevermind, I figure this out on my own.
