Permalink beginning with 0 gets -2 appended

    I’ve tried to create a Page with title 012345 but I will end up with a permalink 012345-2. This happens whenever I create a Page with title that begins with 0. Is this a bug?

    I was just fighting that same issue yesterday. I was trying to create a page that was the year. It kept adding -2 and I thought I must have already had a page with that title. I kept checking and there wasn’t.

    I found I could add a page like 2014-history, but I couldn’t add just 2014.

    I don’t think your problem is that it starts with a zero. I think WordPress won’t accept a URL that is only numbers.

    I’m not sure why WordPress doesn’t allow a numerical permalink, I can’t find any documentation on it.

    Hi Matt,

    I did the same thing and even manually looked into my database to find that page thinking it already exists because I was muddled or something but I couldn’t find it.

    Did the same by adding -x and it would appear. Googled for an answer to why WP was doing this but didn’t find any answers either.

    I’m using The Events Calendar Pro plugin now and it could create a page with only numbers, no problem, BUT it was missing the first zero in the name. https://caochangdi.co/galleries/1100001/ worked but https://caochangdi.co/galleries/01100001/ didn’t. I had to rename it to https://caochangdi.co/galleries/01100001-gallery/.

    Not a big deal but kind of annoying.
