Permalink 404 errors after deleting a category

Hi all,

I’ve run into a bit of trouble where my permalinks are concerned. I set them up using the following structure:

/journal/%category%/%postname%/

Here’s an example: https://www.nevrglow.com/journal/apple/tiger-unleashed/

Everything was working just fine until I deleted one of my categories. Ever since then I’m getting a WP 404 error (as you can see if you visit the example above). Note that if I remove %category% from the permalink structure everything works as planned. Ugly permalinks like https://www.nevrglow.com/?p=5 also work.

How can deleting a category mess things up, and how can I fix the problem? I’m running WP 1.5, and my site is hosted at TextDrive.com (on Apache 2, so I know it’s okay to use %category% in my permalink structure).
