• I’ve seen variations of my issue but haven’t found a solution. Whenever an email is sent out to all of my users, the following email is received:

“Email has been sent to 36 users, but 72 recipients were originally found. Perhaps some users don’t have valid email addresses?”

I only have 36 users registered. It’s somehow finding everyone twice!

The only thing I can think of that may be causing this would be bbpress forums. Is it possible that the email users plugin is somehow counting each user twice due to their additional roles in the forums?

    How do I resolve this?

The presence of users in multiple roles could cause this to happen IF you send email using the roles for your recipients. What happens is all of the email addresses for each role are gathered up and then any duplicates are discarded which causes the count of selected recipients to mismatch the count of actual recipients.

Way back in the WordPress 2.x days it was possible to define a user without any email address or defined multiple users with the same email address. WordPress checks for both now do the odds of having a user without an email address are very low but that wasn’t originally the case.

In your case, I would simply select the role which covers all of the users and you shouldn’t see this message.

I’ll try that. When we send out our next mass email, I’ll return and report as to whether or not we receive that email again.

    Thanks,
