I was trying to use hummingbird for boasting up the speed of my site. But when I try to run the performance test it shows an error that the site is either on local machine or it can’t connect to WPMU DEV. So in that case what to do? My site is live & it’s hosted under iPage WordPress hosting plan.
Please help me with this one.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Also when asset compression i don’t know but nothing actually happens. If I click on compress then it doesn’t reduce any file size why’s that?

    Hi @adnanshawkat,

There is a report on our servers. So you should be seeing it in the plugin. Maybe you have some sort of server caching enabled? Could you please try and run one more performance test?

After you select the files that you want to compress and save the settings, you need to refresh the home page a few times for the assets to regenerate for that page.

    Best regards,
    Anton

    Hi @adnanshawkat

I’ve triggered a manual scan for you, please run another performance test and a report should come through for you.

In Asset Optimization after selecting your files to be compressed, the file needs to be requested before it will generate the compressed file. Please visit your home page then refresh the Asset Optimization page a few times and you will notice the files that were requested from the home page will start to show that they’re now compressed ??
We understand that Asset Optimization can be quite confusing sometimes so we’re currently enhancing the UI to better show the states of the files which will be available soon in an upcoming release.

    Cheers,
    Calum

Well the page cache is enabled in this time if I request compressing of the file then if it’ll work or load the cached data. The cache is enabled from your plugin also.

Also what does this means? A blue & grey button for compress assets. Its really confusing as I don’t know what’s happening in here.

And in image optimization I tried to use wp smush. But your plugin asking me to install smush pro. What to do in this case? I’ve already smushed the images but it’s showing scaled image issue.
GTMetrix result is really poor for scaled image, defer persing js, inline css & js. How to handle these option using your plugin. Can you please guide me here?

    Hi @adnanshawkat,

It is recommended to configure all the asset optimization settings, then enable page caching.

The blue icon means that the item is selected for compression, the grey one – unselected. The YU will be improved in the upcoming version so it is more clear what is happening.

Hummingbird will offer to upgrade to WP Smush Pro, but you don’t have to, everything will work perfectly fine with the Free version.

    About GTMetrix results.
    – Serve scaled images means that the image used on your site (actual image) is larger than the html element for that image. For example, one of the images is resized in HTML or CSS from 808×1024 to 253×320. You will need to configure proper image dimensions via your theme or adding a custom thumbnail size and regenerate all your images for this message to go away. Unfortunately, hummingbird won’t be able to do this for you.

    – Defer parsing of JavaScript. You will need to enable advanced mode in Hummingbird (the icon on the right of Re-check Files and Clear Cache buttons). After that you will have the option to defer js files and inline css.

    Best regards,
    Anton
