Performance issue – is yoast regenerate sitemap.xml for each new post?

I have massload script generates new posts based on XML feed using wp_insert_post().
I am curious if the sitemap is generated every time I add a new post?If yes, I would like to know how to disable it for each new post and do it just on demand.
