Slow processing AJAX and REST-API calls

Processing the Forminator POST admin-ajax request takes 3-4 seconds.

    My form settings are:

Submission Behavior >method > Page Reload

    Validation > On Submission

    Inline Validation > Enabled

    Show Loader > Enabled

Load Form Using AJAX > Disabled

The site is hosted on SiteGround’s GrowBig plan which is their best shared hosting plan.

I understand you will probably say this is a server issue but as far as Forminator is concerned, can you suggest how to improve the time it takes to process the Forminator AJAX request? Alternatively, how to disable the AJAX request?

    Thanks,

    Julian

    Hey?Nithin – WPMU DEV Support?(@wpmudevsupport11)

    Sorry for taking so long!

I run the conflict test on a staging site because deactivating all plugins cause too many problems and too much of a hassle afterwards. I can destroy the staging site after the test then start again easily.

Unfortunately, as I explained earlier in this support case, the live and staging sites behave very differently and I’ve never been able to figure out why.

    With Conflict Test
    Waterfall results https://gtmetrix.com/reports/staging2.oohlalazouk.com/yDmdOfED/

    • Activated Twenty Twenty-Three theme
    • Active plugins: Forminator, Jetpack, WooCommerce, Wordfence Security
    • Deactivated all other plugins

    Without Conflict Test
    https://gtmetrix.com/reports/staging2.oohlalazouk.com/vUEy630C/

    • Active Porto theme
    • All plugins activated

    Thanks,
    Julian

    Hi @born2excite

    Thanks for response!

I must say this is all quite strange.

The form itself is simple and when I tested it on my end (when you shared it) it didn’t behave that way. I just imported the same form again to one of my test sites and the total time of all form-related ajax-requests was under 2 seconds.

This isn’t perfect too. However, it’s on quite a “messy” site (that’s used for all sorts of very different testing and not really kept optimized or maintained in a “perfect shape”) and on a rather basic shared host (which also hosts a lot of other test sites of mine within the same account, sharing resources).

Taking that into account, I know this may sound like “going in circles” but perhaps you could run one more test on live site?:

Since you are hosting with SiteGround, I’m assuming you are using their SG Optimizer plugin on site, right? If not, you should be able to install it. In this plugin you can control how the site is cached (server-side) and optimized so try disabling absolutely all caching and optimization options you can find there. Additionally, if you are using any other plugin for JS/CSS optimization, try turning it off as well. Then use incognito browser tab (or clear browser cache) and see if that makes any difference whatsoever.

    Best regards,
    Adam
