• I’ve had an issue for the past few months with some people being unable to leave comments on my site.
This week, two of them removed their website address from the log-in section and it worked!
I think this is ridiculous. Can this be fixed? One of the web addresses was a wordpress one, so it’s not as if it’s incompatible. Seriously, I’m an author and need people to be able to comment on my blog posts – it makes me look like an idiot if they can’t.

I’m considering changing to a different system if this doesn’t get fixed.

What spam-stopping systems are you using?

Have you checked to see if they get caught as spam?

NO they’re not. They type their details in, enter the comment and then it just never appears – just disappears into cyberspace.

Okay, back to question one: What spam-stopping systems are you using?

    Akismet

Okay. Akismet will flag posters as spam, so if their posts just ‘vanish’ then they SHOULD be showing up in your admin end as spam. That you’re saying the posts appear when they remove the URL implies that it’s a plugin, and Akismet certain can and does flag URLs as spam, but when it does, it doesn’t auto-delete the comment, it puts it in the spam queue.

The other most likely reasons for weird things like this is a theme problem (theme functions can override normal behavior) or your host not fully supporting WP. Start with turning back to the default, 2010, theme.

Is there any way to fix it without losing all the specifications I’ve made on my theme?
