pending orders

I am not very computer savvy but I am having trouble with my site. I was told from a customer that they could not complete their purchase today. I use eshop and paypal. I looked at eshop on my dashboard and can see 4 attempts from the customer in “pending orders” I have googled this and it seems that these orders stay there for a while then move to “deleted orders”. It is scary how many there is. Can anyone help me? I also get “failed payment” notifications all the time and I have no idea why.
