PDFs not opening, browser enters redirect loop

    hello. For some reason on this site https://www.chiropractic.org.nz/ PDFs are not being found via links on a page. The PDF files are located in a site folder, or the WP Media Library. On clicking a link to a PDF the browser enters a redirect loop and fails to find the file.

    I don’t understand why this is happening when I could get it to work on other sites and aren’t doing anything different.

    This link shows demonstrates the problem; the top link links to an external version of the PDF on another WP site where everything is working as it should, the second link fails https://chiropractic.org.nz/testing-things/

    I’ve seen a few other topics discussing this issue but they’re pretty dated and the .htaccess solutions suggested I tried, but got no positive results.

    Any advice on how to fix this greatly appreciated.

    As I can see your pdf is running through a 302 redirect loop.

    Can you kindly deactivate your plugins and try it once.

    It looks like the .htaccess reference to the Memberpress plugin I am using is causing a problem. I have contacted the developers to see what they say. Will post further developments, and hopefully the solution.

    This is indeed what was causing the problem. Disabling the Memberpress mod_rewrite rules in .htaccess file has fixed it, PDFs now get found.

    For anybody else wanting to know – The Memberpress mod_rewrite rules are required if one is planning to use MemberPress’ Custom URI rules types to protect standalone files. (in this case I do not require them, don’t know what the solution would be in that case). All of the other Memberpress rules types still work without them.
