PDFs deleted but still visible

    I have 3 PDFs that are still visible in the browser even though they’re not in the media library.
    With the first one I went to the media library to delete it but it couldn’t be found. When I connected by FTP I could see it in the 2019/02 folder so I deleted it but it was still visible.
    Another one was found in the media library, I deleted it from there and could see it was gone from the folder when looking on the server but it’s still visible.
    I’ve cleared cache in my browser, cleared and disabled the caching plugin, cleared the cache in the hosting account. I’ve even tried a redirect plugin but nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    WordPress version 5.8.

    As soon as you delete a PDF from media library, its deleted from disk as well. The only reason I could think when it would fail to delete it is when WordPress doesn’t have the correct (write permission) permission in this case.

    And if it’s still accessible from the url, then that would imply you are using a CDN to serve traffic which has cached the contents of the url, PDF file in this case. So, either you wait out for CDN to purge it from its cache on whatever schedule it does so or you go ahead & flush this out from CDN’s cache.

    Are you using Cloudflare? Or perhaps some CDN service?

    Thanks @ashfame. The hosting company did a purge of the cache (even though I’d already done one) and this seems to have fixed it.
