I keep getting the Error message HTTP Error come up when I try to upload a file. The problem started with a PDF file at 4.98MB. Not sure where to start with fixing the problem aside from browsing the support forums, which didn’t help me.

I’ve tried disabling plugins, made a few changes to my wp-config.php file, etc.

  • Hey

Link and on which page error is coming an in which section

Does it on the post content page backend..??

Please check with your Hosting provider. May be problem with PHP upload limit or timeout.

I’m also getting this error with a pdf upload of around that size, what hosting provider are you using mrbogart? I’m using namecheap. I’ll keep you posted if I find anything useful.
I find anything above 3.5mb and it struggles with it.

Very sorry all. I never got the notifications that I had been replied to.

Update: I just skipped that particular file. I was able to upload everything else I needed to, there was just something about that particular file.

I spent a while talking to the people running my server, and they found the source of my error:

“server security module Mod_reqtimeout was enabled. Mod_reqtimeout is an Apache module used to protect Apache from “slow read” attacks, and by default this module is turned OFF on all shared servers. As you understand, it is enabled only when the server becomes a target of a “slow-read” DDoS and should be disabled after the attack is over.”

Disabling that module solved the problem.
More details about my particular problem: it wasn’t just pdf’s. any file uploaded above 3.5mb or so was getting a http error. I tried uploading from multiple devices, and with multiple browsers. I was using a shared server and didn’t have access to the module in question, so it was just the fault of whoever set up the server.
