I have added the encrypted pdf to this page for a test – but it is not showing.

    This is the shortcode displayed in the page [copysafepdf name=’mypwebsitelayout.class’ bgwidth=’600′ bgheight=’600′ prints_allowed=’0′ print_anywhere=’0′ allow_capture=’0′ allow_remote=’0′ background=’CCCCCC’]

So what might be the issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I doubt that without a licence for the Copysafe PDF software, that you can create an encrypted PDF that can be uploaded.

The file was uploaded and is there in the correct location. See this link

In what name do you have a software licence and domain lock licence to be able to create legitimate .class files?

Btw you have JavaScript errors on your page which may be why the shortcode is not being converted to HTML.

I don’t have domain lock licence. I have the free copysafe pdf protector software which makes the legitimate .class files. Right or not? I’m confused by your question.

Wrong. What you do have is a free WordPress plugin that enables site owners to add copy protected PDF to WordPress pages… encrypted PDF created by the Copysafe PDF software. Yes, that software may be available as a demo for evaluation, but you need a licence for it before you can purchase an additional licence to encrypt for use on your website, because without “domain lock” the protected PDF could be displayed on any web site which would not be very secure at all.

Renaming a .pdf file as .class or renaming the .enc as .class will not circumvent the licensing required to use CopySafe PDF software.

When you say ‘wrong’ and mention changing extensions – note this. The Copysafe PDF software as downloaded is enabled for creating .class files by itself without requiring a licence key from the get-go. Nobody here touched the extensions.

Your answer is then unclear. Please confirm this basic thing: Will the .class file created in the unlicensed CopySafe PDF software (as noted above) then uploaded via the plugin, display on a website, or not?

Yes, we get that domain lock adds better protection, but we want to test basic things first.

If the demo software does create .class files for web display, it will be for testing at “https://localhost”… as is indicated in website selection.

You will need a “domain lock” licence to display on any other website. Our .class files will only display on the website that they where encrypted for.

    OK thanks.

So I presume all my users will need to download the artisbrowser in order to view the pdf files.

So that’s where we stop. Our users won’t do that.

If I am mistaken about this please advise.

Are there plans / can it be done to make an artisbrowser extension for chrome? That would make sense.

All the best in any case.

ArtisBrowser is required because all popular web browsers dropped support for real plugins (NPAPI) late 2015 in favour of PPAPI plugins suitable for mobile apps, which are based on HTML and JavaScript so yjru cannot interact at system level where copy protection needs to be actioned. In other words, no, it is not possible to support web browsers like Chrome because Chrome and the others under their influence are now useless for anything more than displaying web pages and enabling the easy copy, save and download of all media… which is not what you want.

Have you considered distributing for desktop reading as an alternative? Most authors with intellectual property to protect prefer publishing for desktop top reading because they can use DRM which prevents sharing. Our DRM locks PDF to a user’s computer and authors can change settings and entitlement online that have immediate effect, even on PDF already saved to a user’s computer or still out in the wild on disk.
