Upon looking at my logs. I found the following:

[Wed Jun 03 15:57:58 2015] [error] [client 66.249.83.164] ModSecurity: Warning. Match of “rx ^OPTIONS$” against “REQUEST_METHOD” required. [id “960015”] [msg “Request Missing an Accept Header”] [severity “CRITICAL”] [hostname “cflex.promediaonline.com”] [uri “/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/DESIGN-GUIDE.pdf”] [unique_id “VW9cRn8AAAEAAE0wKXgAAAAE”]

Now thats not my IP but rather a google IP. I get this entry when loading the page from FF, Chrome or IE. I don’t think this is the answer as ff/chrome get it and still show the links fine. but it does seem to be related to the plugin.

The log messages are interesting, but I don’t really imagine they are causing the problem. It seems pretty clear that Google is receiving the PDF in its entirety, since it displays it generally OK (and perfectly in most browsers).

It would therefore seem to be a problem with Google’s viewer on IE – I think you hit the nail on the head in the last line of your first post above…

Of course, you could report this error to Google to fix in their viewer, but I’m not sure they are particularly responsive to bug reports to be honest!

Thanks for your input here – I hope you find a suitable solution in the end.

    Dan
