PDF Error when click on download file link

Hello, I am getting this error displayed in my browser when I click on the link to download a PDF.
%PDF-1.5 %a??ó 801 0 obj <> endobj 1096 0 obj <>/Filter/Fl
The link it takes me to is:
/wp-content/plugins/email-before-download/download.php?dl=49b5faf38f4d1dcd8a7a01f56e20f530
We just changed servers and this problem started to occur. We went from using CPanel to using Plesk both being Apache. So, I don’t know if this is a misconfiguration with PHP.ini or what.
Also, if I actually type in the URL where the PDF file is actually located (ex. /wp-content/uploads/downloads/myfile.pdf), it will show up just fine in the browser.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end on this.
