    Hello there. I’d like to thank the author(s) for this plugin, it has been working really well most of the time.

    However, today I wanted to install an addon and got the following:

    Downloading archive https://www.blogseye.com/beta-updater.zip…

    Extracting files…

    The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
    Plugin Upgraded Successfully.

    Plugin Activation failed. beta-updater/WP_Error Object ( [errors] => Array ( [plugin_not_found] => Array ( [0] => Plugin file not found. ) ) [error_data] => Array ( ) )

    Note that the messages have been translated from Russian by me; in English they may not be exactly the same, but it shouldn’t matter. This happens for every addon I try to install from the plugin’s “Addons” page.

    I’ve googled for this issue and most of the time the advice is to check if there is enough disk space left on the web server. I have full access to the server and I am sure that there is enough space left. Moreover, any other plugin or theme installs and works flawlessly. The plugins directory is writeable by the webserver user.

    I fear there might be a misconfiguration on my part, since googling for this error AND this plugin’s name gives me nothing. Also, I did install one addon in the past (long ago), but trying to update it via the addons page yields the same result now.

    The server is running Apache 2.4.25 with PHP 5.6.30 under FreeBSD, if you need to know.

    Thank you again for this wonderful plugin, and I hope you can help me with my problem.

  • One error that I discovered when testing is that on some sites with limited memory the download and unzip runs out of memory (not disk space) and reports a bad zip file. Disabling some plugins that are memory hogs temporarily fixes this.

    It might be that since I updated to HTTPS: on blogseye.com that updates stopped working for some people. I will look to see if the plugin hard codes the HTTP: protocol. There is an .htaccess file that will redirect to HTTPS.

    For now, try downloading the plugins and add-ons directly from https://www.blogseye.com and installing them manually.

    The in-plugin update functions were an experiment to see if I could create a system where I could charge for the add-ons. I have since decided that it was a waste of my time. The next version of the Stop Spammers plugin will be stripped down. I will be dropping features that only cause problems like this. The add-ons will either be included in the plugin or dropped. (TOR blocking is superfluous as all TOR exit nodes are already marked as spam)

    My plugins suffer from too many features that are easily broken by non-standard plugins and themes. JetPack which should be a standard, breaks several of my plugins.
    I recently removed 20 of my plugins from the repository and will delete more. Soon I will be down to just my greatest hits: Stop Spammers, Permalink Finder, and Open In New Window.

    Thanks for the reply. My server has 512MB of memory available to PHP, set in php.ini (as I have said earlier I have full access to it). There are no slowdowns or any other indications of high memory usage, and I am not using any memory-consuming plugins as well.

    I suppose the HTTP URL used for downloading is in the settings/kpg_install_update.php file, in the eponymous function (kpg_install_update), on line 10. Changing it to HTTPS results in the following error message being displayed:

    Download failed: Forbidden

    Maybe the IP is blocked because it is located in Russia? The IP in question is 95.46.228.129.

    The funny thing is that me and my server are on the same local subnet behind NAT (the server is actually a home server) and thus I have the same WAN IP as the server. However, I can access https://blogseye.com without any hindrances. This is strange…

    @player701 Any update on this?

    I cannot say anything else besides what I already said the last time, because the plugin hasn’t been updated since then. It still doesn’t work and I don’t expect it to suddenly start working, at least not until the plugin is updated. Since I’m not the plugin author, I don’t know when it might happen, if at all.

    Ar ok. I am having the same issue, but across the board. I receive the message when I go to update anything.

    I’m wondering at the moment if it is a lack of memory allocation.

    I switched BlogsEye.com to HTTPS which may be the problem.

    You can download updates manually at the beta test page at BlogsEye.

    I am rewriting much of this code, so expect a WordPress update soon.
