Paypal Subscription vs Buy Now in S2member

  • I’ m a little confused by the distinction between Paypal Subscription (recurring and non-recurring) and Buy Now in the context of s2memberships. Specifically I want to sell members a one year membership, and at the end of the year have them reminded to renew, but not charged via Paypal. Should I be using the “buy now” setting for Paypal, or the non-recurring option?

    This is a site for seniors, so an automatic renewal might not be appropriate if they pass on, and I don’t want something indicating it’s a recurring membership if that’s going to create confusion for them. But, I would want them to be reminded to renew in any event.

    I’m using the most current release of the standard version of S2member and a regular paypal account.

  • You definitely want to use the Buy Now option.

    Thanks for your help. They’ll still be able to notified automatically, am I right?

    At the moment, there is no automatic notification of an impending end of term in the s2member core. But you can get an add-on, by a different developer, that provides that functionality.
