Fix: When PayPal is activated the WooCommerce PayPal Gateway is now deactivated by default

This seems less like a fix and more like an aggressive business tactic. This change should probably be reverted and set up as an option instead. It’s possible that stores can be broken by this option for several reasons.

  • From the plugin guidelines

Developers and their plugins must not do anything illegal, dishonest, or morally offensive.
While this is subjective and rather broad, the intent is to prevent plugins, developers, and companies from abusing the freedoms and rights of end users as well as other plugin developers.

How do they call it in the software industry? It’s not a bug – it’s a feature!

Seriously, some of the poorest marketing I’ve seen – don’t bother, move on to more constructive and uplifting stuff!

    Hello @theinternalthe @wbrubaker @jessepearson

We already contacted PayPal to change their mind and set back the behavior like it was before so users can decide if they want to use the WC PayPal plugin too.

I’m really sorry about this issue.

This behaviour should be fixed with the next release. PayPal will remove it. The next update should come this or next week.

@aweissinpsyde thanks for the information! I really appreciate this change!

I hope Paypal don’t do other dubious Business practices here in the future
